It's just when the weekend began to warm up (temperatures hovered in the 30's) that a sense of life began to spring forth. Life around the lake began to take shape as animals and birds dried from the late-season snow...

And yet still, I wonder how a weekend in the forest could have been more beautiful - more snow, more sun, more something. But it got me thinking...Why in my innate sense of humanity do I demand more? More beauty, warmth, etc.? The weekend may have been wet and cold, but all the while was a sight for sore eyes.

The bottom line is this: throughout one's life a lack of time control can leave one missing the most beautiful and important part in one's life. Maybe it's not the best when it snows 3" on our tent over Memorial Day - but boy was it beautiful...

Stumbled over this BBC website devoted to discovering more about mammals.

I know, another site to waste my time at, but did you know that nearly a fifth of all mammal species are bats?

Good times...
