I recently stumbled across new "music instrument" called the Reactable. According to the instrument's web site, the reactable is a "collaborative electronic music instrument with a tabletop tangible multi-touch interface." The surface looks like a glowing table in which objects are moved by multiple musicians. As objects are moved on the surface, different synth sounds are created.
The Reactable is poised to make music more collaborative using several performers. In addition, it's aimed at being very intuitive and easy to use and master. It's well suited for novices and advanced musicians alike. Icelandic singer Bjork utilizes this tool of music on her tours.
Though I'm still a big fan of an eight foot grand Steinway, the Reactable could soon be my next great joy. That is if someone would love to buy one for me.
